IAC Teaching Sessions / New Book available
« on: October 26, 2018, 08:35:00 AM »
"Attack & Defense: Winning Cardplay at Bridge" is now available in both print and e-book format from Amazon.
Ideal for intermediate/advanced level players who want to improve their card play, this book covers a number of topics beyond the normal scope of classes. Are you sure which card to play from touching honours? Do you examine a defender's motives when he does something unexpected? How specific is your signalling method with your regular partner?

Also now available is the long-awaited sequel to "Enterprising Tales", the Star Trek based bridge novel first published in 1990. A rewritten version of the original was published earlier this year as "Enterprising Bridge Tales: The Original Stories" and the sequel, "Enterprising Bridge Tales: The Next Generation", came our in September 2018. Both published by Masterpoint Press are available from the MPP web site or from most bridge suppliers.

I am currently offering a 20% discount on classes for new students signing up for a minimum of 10 lessons.

You can join an existing group if spaces are available in a time slot that suits you. Alternatively, if you have at least two people I will start a new group at a time convenient to you, and in due course we will try to get that group up to four people.

Classes available for Intermediate and Advanced levels.

The focus of classers is usually on declarer play and/or defence, with preset hands and hand notes emailed to you after each class. I also have one (currently) freestyle groups which plays random BBO hands rather than preset hands, and in that group we focus more on bidding issues, primarily hand evaluation, competitive bidding and slam bidding, but of course we discuss anything that comes up.

Visit www.bridge-teacher.com or email me at marc@bridge-teacher.com for more information.

I have recently started a new group which runs on Mondays at 2:30pm Eastern (7:30pm UK). Rather than setting students pre-set hands and concentrating primarily on aspects of card play, either as declarer or defender, these sessions are designed to be more freestyle. Hands are randomly generated by BBO, so the topics covered are highly varied, either thrown up by the hands or raised as discussion points by members of the group. The format particularly concentrates on bidding, and particularly slam bidding and competitive bidding situations -- not so much system, but style, judgement, partnership co-operation, hand evaluation, etc.

There is currently space for two more individuals or one partnership in this group, although if the format proves particularly popular then I'll be happy to run more similar groups  in other time slots. Anyone interested can email me at marc@bridge-teacher.com.

In addition, there are also currently spaces available in more conventional groups with a focus on card play: Intermediate on Mondays at Noon (Eastern) and Thursday at 2:30pm (Eastern) and Advanced on Thursdays at Noon (Eastern). If you have two or more people and want to start a group at a different day/time, I'd be happy to get a group going with the aim of eventually making it a foursome.

Visit my web site for information about classes or any of my books, which can be ordered in print or electronic format from the site.

IAC Teaching Sessions / Spaces in classes available
« on: September 03, 2018, 03:46:59 PM »
Just a quick note to IAC members that in addition to spaces currently open in my Thursday classes, there is now one space available in the Monday Intermediate group, which starts at Noon Eastern/5pm UK each week.
For more information on these or any other classes, see my website at www.bridge-teacher.com or email me at marc@bridge-teacher.com.

Lesson run for two hours (or just over) and you get an email with the hands and notes following each class.

Anyone interested in classes outside the days/times currently running, let me know and I will try to get a group going. If we have two or more I am happy to start a new group and add to it as we go.
