Title: Slam Tourney Hands - 2020-02-14
Post by: GG_Bridge on February 14, 2020, 10:32:54 PM
Attached are the hands from the Slam Tourney of 2020-02-14.  Drop them into aaBridge and replay them in the aps double dummy feature, or play against the program's robots.

See   https://rogerpf.com/bridge/aaBridge  for a free download of aaBridge . .there are Youtube videos if you need help with installation,  and lots of videos on how to use aaBridge.

I ran into a strange problem. The .lin file imports just fine into aaBridge but simply will not properly import into BBO. Anyone else tried importing them?

I had a problem but I think not the same problem that you are speaking of.

I clicked on the link you provide
http://iac.pigpen.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=405.0;attach=92
and I got a message that it cannot open the pdf.
I was using Chrome so I tried again with Edge, also unsuccessfully.  Then I tried Firefox. That got me there, although some rigmarole was required.

As to moving the files out of aaBridge and into BBO, I have no idea.  Is that what you are asking about?

For me, it is most useful to simply have the hands on display. Then we can think about what is best. For example, on board 2 of this slam tourney we have NS hands of

!S KQT74
!H Q432
!D A6
!C 73

!S AJ852
!H AKT
!D Q54
!C AQ

A spade is led against 6 !S, everyone follows.
The problem is to play the cards in such an order that we make if either minor suit K is favorably located and we also make if the hearts are 3-3. That's pretty much it. Well, also the hearts could be 4-2 with the Jx on one side or the other. An early finesse  in hearts works if there is Jxxx on the right but that's surely not the right way to approach this.

The point is that if we have the hands we can think through the play. The technology issues can be a distraction, or at least for me they are.
