The Diamond team won the Spingold on the last hand last night.

At one table Duboin, sitting S for the Lavazza team is in 4 !S . No way to stop him from 450. At the other table, Sementa, sitting E for the Lavazza team, is in 3 !H X. If he can hold it to down 3 that would give Diamond 500-450=50, translating to 2 imps, not enough. Lavaza would win by 1 imp. But the defense was solid, and it was down 4, giving Diamond 8 imps and the match.
Of course there were many swings and opportunities for swings. That's the way bridge is. But this was a very exciting finish. Congratulations to the winners, it was a great match.
