IAC Matters / Re: Why I Want to Be a Member of IAC
« on: April 03, 2018, 06:14:45 PM »
IAC site needs cookies to work well. If we cleaned cookies, it might make it work wrong, ie sort of forget we are there.
Solution is easy. Log in, open your Profile (under Welcome Babs drop box at the top), and exit, with or without any change. It should help. Pls try and let us know :)

I made a test entry into calendar and it worked well, set for tuesday noon - 1300 utc.
But I did not put any subject or comment in there and edited it. Then I added the "Test only" comment and saved.
Funny is that changed my time, which I did not alter and it became 14-15 hundreds utc.
I edited again, changed times back to initial ones, saved. And it stayed as I wanted it : )

Interesting ideas there Dick, lets await what OliverC says about making such page on IAC site. And lets be patient as he is very busy lately.

You do not need to explain why you prefer play compared to certain lessons, many do. Just as many love tournaments and other never play in them, but like teams. The problem is that most active members use same "prime time" and there we gotta have trnys, lessons and also play in the club. But they are not ncessarely coliding, for example on Sunday 2100 UTC we have a tournament and OCP practice in the club. Very few members have hard time deciding which to attend, from reasons I said above.

For time being, untill we set such info on iac page, make as friends people that can use bboiac name to send call for players, and if there is no lesson running there is no reason why they should not. They are: onoway, OliverC, Ian84, ggriffin0, yleexotee, BabsG and me.

Link is :  https://goo.gl/Rc7KkQ

Please bookmark it, as it's youtube video chanel, created by Roger and Charlene where they will post all sessions that are recorded.
I'd also suggest that a TY bbo-mail to RogerPfi and GG_Bridge, that do so much for IAC, within aaBrigde, and also these recordings, as well as OCP classes should at least be thanked with big hug :)
TY both!  !H

There are about 50 IAC members signed for this lesson.
Please do your homework, study material Arik posted at : http://angelblue.co.il/the-basic-elements-of-squeeze/

If there is anything you do not understand, send mail to Arik. More prepared students come, more will be covered at the class, as teacher won't lose time going over the very basic and already published.

Most likely it will be held on Wednesday, Jan 10th - still to be confirmed.

The IAC Café / Re: Bot std, the wave of the future?
« on: December 27, 2017, 07:27:10 PM »
My "bot" is Jack, ie software. He plays those sequences differently.

Because we "agreed" play Walsh, strong responder will bid diamonds first then reverse to spades. Therefore
1C-1S-2C-2D would show weakish hand with 6-10 hcp with 5+ diamonds and  4-5 spades.

2nd sequence is not necessarily strong, just 1 round forcing,
1D-1S-2D-2H shows 10+HCP, with 5+ spades and 4+ hearts.
If responder was GF with 4-4 in majors, he'd rebid 3C. And if same shape but weaker, he'd bid 1H first and not spades.

Oh boy, wouldn't I be confused with "your" bots and you with my poor Jack!  :o

IAC Teaching Sessions / Special Squeeze lesson by Angel Blue
« on: December 18, 2017, 05:19:49 PM »
AngelBlue plans to hold a special lesson - Introduction to Squeezes.
Because Arik wants to be sure that all students fully understand, this lesson will be given to a small group, selected by Arik and IAC. Date and time yet to be determined (not before holidays tho).
We already have 25+ members that signed in during last Dare To Declare lesson. If you would like to assist, pls send private message to me, here or at BBO.
Please notice that this lesson is NOT intended for advanced members, only for ones that struggle or are not familiar at all with squeezes.
*
Tip: Prepare for class by reading Roger on Squeezes in aaBridge (free to DL at: http://rogerpf.com/bridge ). In it you'll find all AngelBlue's previous lessons and of other teachers as well.

After very short break, on Jan 8th, AngelBlue will bring new Dare To Declare challanges, will you be ready for them? :)

The IAC Café / Re: Mentoring, and an everyday hand.
« on: December 16, 2017, 07:48:35 PM »
Very nice of you to give to the subject so much attention. IAC has big variety of members, some just exiting the BIL, others know and can play hundreds of conventions most of us never heard of, some can see squeeze or decide on dummy reversal within miliseconds when dummy shows..

But the majority of IAC can certainly learn from what you can share with them. Even reaching conclusion that the line chosen was wrong, it is learning. Just repeatitivly saying, stop on 1st trick, count ur winners, think of your options, etc, will definitely be of huge benefit to many, i am sure, as i would lead the list lol.

So, I am looking forwards for your sessions :)

I am now exiting mentor mode, see you at the table.

OK; but we HOPE see you in true mentor role at IAC table soon - sometime in early 2018. I am sure you'll "force" many of lazy IAC heads to think be4 they act (I lead the list!)

Exciting news !!

Arik (Angelblue) has been so kind to and published hands from his lessons at his site ( http://angelblue.co.il/ ), and he also gave permission to RogerPfi to include them in aabridge.

aaBridge is software made by IAC member RogerPfi, free to download at his site ( http://rogerpf.com/aaBridge ). It keeps getting updated, so make sure you have the latest version. In it you'll find lots of lessons - by Angelblue, OliverC, Hondo, just to name few teachers; many interesting vugraph deals; great collection of self practice hands; a game made to help you study distributions; learn to make dealer scripts, and much much more.
It's THE MUST software to have if you want to improve your game!

Big Thank You to Arik and Karen for great lessons, RogerPfi and GG_bridge for aaBridge, and Onoway for running this club where we are gifted by so many altruistic people  :)

IAC Website / Re: who has made an "enemy" of me ..and why
« on: October 24, 2017, 04:36:47 PM »
BBO every now and then surprises us with some bug, which we can not prevent, and often can't find explanation of why it happened. Three months or so ago, it deleted 90% of IAC members - Pam, me and others that use bbo_iac nick kept adding them 1 by 1 as they noticed they lost access to the club.
BUT, for some of them, simple adding would not work, and we have no idea why. Those names had to be added, saved, then deleted and added again, huge nuisance.

Unless we hold tournament that is "open" to all BBO, IAC TDs do not include any enemy list, we just simply restrict access to be exclusive to IAC members, simply because all iac enemies are definately not  members. Therefore, there is NO Logical explanation why anyone would not be able enter tournament, but able access IAC room in space of 1 hour. I have no answer why it happened.

With Pokerbids, the problem remained untill yesterday when I removed him from iac member list; added him back, logged of and on, and finaly added his name as personal friend of bbo_iac, which shouldn't matter at all, but solved problems.

Some players, annoyed by messages/mails from bbo_iac block that name, ie mark it as enemy. Or it can happen accidently, as they wanted mark it as friend or neutral, and by mistake clicked on enemy - that wouldn't help signing into the trny hosted by bbo_iac.
And lastly, being invisible when signing up doesn't help either, and if trny starts all invisibles (and their pards) are dropped off, automatically by BBO.
